Microchipping your best buddy increases the odds that your dog (or cat) will be able to come home to you should they become lost. The microchip is tiny and goes into the scruff of your pets neck. In the event your pet is separated from you, the finder can take your pet to any shelter, rescue or veterinarian, and the staff will be able to scan your pet and contact a national database to get your contact information.

Aside from making sure your pet wears a collar with a tag, the microchip is backup you don't want to be without. You may not think your mainly indoor cat or dog could get lost, but it can happen to any owner.
